Terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and UrgeCheck (“we”, “us”) about your use of the UrgeCheck app and this website. They are also the end user licence agreement (EULA) for the app. By using UrgeCheck you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

If you use UrgeCheck on iOS, Apple’s standard licensed application end user licence agreement also applies. Where the two conflict on a point Apple requires, Apple’s terms win.

1. Who can use UrgeCheck

You must be 18 or older to use UrgeCheck. By using it you confirm that you are.

2. What UrgeCheck is

UrgeCheck is a self-control and behavior-change tool. It helps you pause when an urge hits, choose a different response and see patterns in your own log. It is not medical advice, therapy, counselling or a diagnosis, and it does not treat any condition. Patterns it shows are correlations from what you logged, not clinical findings. Talk to a qualified professional about your health, and don’t delay or ignore professional advice because of something you saw in the app.

3. Coach

Coach gives scripted, general suggestions based on what you have logged. It is not a person, a doctor, a therapist or a financial advisor. Its suggestions can be incomplete, unsuitable for you, or wrong. Use your own judgement, and don’t rely on Coach for decisions about your health, safety, money or legal matters.

4. No gambling, trading or financial advice

UrgeCheck does not provide gambling, betting, trading or investment services or advice, and does not help you place bets or trades. Nothing in the app is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything, or a way to win back losses.

5. Your responsibilities

• You are responsible for your own choices and actions, including those you take after using the app.
• Keep your device secure. Anyone who can unlock your phone may be able to see your log.
• Only add people to your Circle whose names you are comfortable storing. Messages to your Circle are sent by you, through your own apps.
• Your data lives on your device by default. If you don’t turn on backup, losing your device may mean losing your log.

6. Subscriptions

UrgeCheck is free for every behavior. Coach & Intelligence is an optional paid subscription, available monthly or yearly.

• New subscribers may get a 7-day free trial. If you don’t cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you are charged.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• Payment is taken by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). You manage and cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings, not in UrgeCheck. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. We can’t issue refunds directly.
• Cancelling never deletes your data or progress. You keep every free feature.
• Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency. If a price changes, Apple or Google will tell you as their rules require.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use UrgeCheck for anything unlawful, or to harm or harass anyone;
• try to break, overload, probe or get around the security of the app or our servers;
• reverse engineer, copy, resell or redistribute the app, except where the law allows it;
• use automated means to access our services, or misuse Coach (for example, trying to make it produce harmful content).

8. Intellectual property

UrgeCheck, its design, content, name and logo belong to us and are protected by law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, under these terms. What you log is yours.

9. Disclaimers

We work hard to make UrgeCheck useful and reliable, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will meet your needs, that it will change any behavior, or that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or money, arising from your use of UrgeCheck. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for Coach & Intelligence in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.

11. Ending your use

You can stop using UrgeCheck at any time and delete your data from Settings & privacy → Delete all data. We may suspend or end access to our online services if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as intellectual property, disclaimers and limitation of liability) survive.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. This doesn’t take away any mandatory consumer protections you have under the laws of the country where you live.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page, and tell you in the app before a material change takes effect. If you keep using UrgeCheck after that, the new terms apply.
